He was educated at the Abdelhamid Institute in Constantine, where he established a strong knowledge base in Islamic sciences and thought. He then continued his studies at the Zaytuna Mosque in Tunis, one of the oldest mosques in the Islamic world, which provided him with more knowledge .
Continuing to develop his ideas and international relations, he went on to study abroad in Tunisia and Iraq, where this experience had a great impact on his understanding of political and social ideas in the Arab world and their impact on Algeria. Mr Rabah Mechhoud was a mujahid during the Liberation Revolution
The personality of the mujahid Mr Rabah Mechhoud was characterised by his deep national and patriotic commitment, which had a great impact on his life choices. He joined the honorable Algerian Revolution at an early age, where he led a range of activities against the French occupation, and joined the National Liberation Army as a prominent officer, where he was assigned vital roles in the military office in Cairo, as his period there was pivotal in his revolutionary preparation, enabling him to coordinate efforts between militants inside and outside the country.
This commitment was a source of inspiration for many young Algerians who saw him as a role model in their anti-colonial revolution. He effectively contributed to organising the revolutionary leadership and coordinating armed activities against the French occupation. These responsibilities strengthened his leadership position and added importance to his historic role in the struggle for Algeria’s freedom.
He was an integral part of the secret organisation that was formed to coordinate resistance operations against the colonialists. He played a pivotal role in planning and designing vital operations, using innovative strategies against the French occupation thanks to his military expertise and his deep desire to achieve independence, making him an important leader who contributed to the restoration of the Algerian national identity, highlighting his courage and dedication to his homeland.

Mr Rabah Mechhoud and his role after independence
During the first years after independence, the mujahid Mr Rabah Mechhoud assumed the position of advisor in the Presidency of the Republic during the rule of President Ahmed Ben Bella, (perhaps one of the few advisors you may ever hear about, who did not benefit or gain anything from his work at the helm of one of the largest Arab countries).
He contributed significantly to shaping the economic and social policies of the new state, playing a prominent role in developing strategies aimed at strengthening state institutions and building its infrastructure, as his insights and expertise helped guide the state towards stability at that critical stage of Algerian history.
Mr Rabah Mechhoud was a witness to the 1965 coup
The mujahid Rabah Mechhoud was also a witness to the period of Ben Bella’s presidency in Algeria, and a witness to the coup against him, so he dedicated the second part of his memoirs to everything related to the coup against him, talking about internal and external conspiracies and the role of the US embassy and others, he says describing the second part of the memoirs (I address the subject of the coup of 19 June 1965, which I kept secret for many years and how difficult it was, revealing astonishing facts for the first time, knowing that I was then an adviser to the President of the Republic from 1963 until 19 – 06-1965).
After the 1965 coup, the post-President Ben Bella regime could not ignore the value, power and influence of the mujahid Rabah Mechhoud in the Algerian street, and tried to take advantage of his services in various ways, but the man’s principles and his religious and educational background were what drove his decisions and not material benefit or position, especially since he, like many others, collided with the new regime , so Mr Rabah Mechhoud refused all temptations. All temptations were practiced against him, exclusion, attempts to marginalise and restrict him in various ways and means, especially after he rejected the offer of the new president ‘Houari Boumediene’ as mentioned in the second part when he said to him (Please exempt me from the presidency and from radio and television, I cannot do a job that would make my son ashamed and ashamed in the future of me as his father, I will not accept for myself to speak about Ben Bella with whom I used to work with).
Mr Rabah Mechhoud was a diplomat and representative of Algeria in many international forums
Later, the diplomatic journey of the mujahid Rabah Mechhoud began, working for his country at home first, then abroad in many countries, such as Jordan, to which he dedicated a special part of his memoirs, which is the third part; where he talks about his work against Jewish spies and his participation in the battle of ‘Dignity’ against Israel, where he says in definition of this part: (In this part, I touch on memories full of events that took place in Jordan, where I don’t say I was transferred to, but I say I was sent away because the decision makers wanted it at the time. In this part, I will present important, interesting and secret information that I will reveal for the first time).
He also represented his country again as a diplomat after his return from Jordan in the United Arab Emirates, to which he also devoted a part of his memoirs, which is the fourth part, and he says in the definition of this part (in which I touch on my memoirs after my return from Jordan to Algeria and from there to the United Arab Emirates, where I started another phase of my work All of which took place in circumstances full of events that I will reveal for the first time.‘
In the fifth part of the memoirs of the mujahid and diplomat Rabah Mechhoud, he says (I refer to my memoirs about my work in Rome in Italy, where I began a new life completely different from what I had previously experienced in Arab countries, which was full of events: diplomacy, espionage, uncovering infiltrations, cooperation… Until I returned to Algeria, where I will discuss events that are also full of action.”

This is his living testimony and the secrets of his life, which he recounts for the first time. He was at the heart of all the critical events in free Algeria and an influential figure in them. This is a historical document that documents much about the liberation revolution, the National Liberation Army and its heroic men. It recounts and describes many of the secrets of that great historical revolution, describing part of the steadfastness and sacrifices of this people, as well as introducing this heroic mujahid and his life story.
This is the biography of a man who took up arms against the occupier, took up the pen and the pulpit and revolted against intruders and cowards, and carried out diplomatic work for the benefit of his country as it should be. And he endured a great deal for all of this… These are memoirs and part of the video and audio recordings and articles that have been collected on this blessed platform, by the grace of God, to remain for us and for future generations, God willing, just as the Algerian mujahid and diplomat Rabah Mechhoud wanted it to be.
